Gary J. Prescott II 

I am a combat wounded veteran of the Persian Gulf War and received the Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Award for Valor, and Combat Infantry Badge. I attained the rank of SGT. E-5 while serving with the Third Armored Division, Second Armored Division and First Cavalry Division. I served in both Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm until wounded by an Iraqi land mine in March of 1991. I joined the Unites States Army in February of 1987. In August of 1992 I was medically discharged from the Army and returned home to upstate New York.

I was born and raised in Guilderland, NY and graduated from Guilderland High School in 1986.1 was hired by the Disabled American Veterans in July of 1994 at the Philadelphia Regional Office. In January of 1997 I left the DAV and moved to Houston, TX. In May of 2001,1 was rehired by the Disabled American Veterans in Houston, Texas were I worked until August of 2004 when I was elevated to the position of Supervisor in the Wichita, KS Regional Office.

I am an active member of the Disabled American Veterans and have held many positions on the state and local levels. My life's goal is to serve this Nations veteran's in the best possible way that I can.

Bob service on the board as the Disabled American Veterans representative was cut short do to his death in an auto accident.  The National Gulf War Resource Center had a brick placed at the Kansas Veteran Memorial in Topeka Kansas.  He loved to make everyone laugh, and so he sent me this photo because he did not want to overload your computer.

Entered Officer Candidates School at Ft. Benning, GA March 1977.

Commissioned as 2LT Field Artillery June 1977.

Assigned 3d Bn 21st FA at Ft. Polk, LA Commanded HHB 3d Bn 21st FA

Graduated from the Infantry Officers Advanced Course at Ft. Benning, GA 1982

Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Troy State University 1983 BA

Assigned to 56th FA Bde Federal Republic of Germany 1983-1986.

Assigned the U.S. Army Recruiting Command as Company Commander 1986-1989.

Assigned to VII Corps Stuttgart Germany 1989-1991

Served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm with VII Corps, 2 COSCOM Chief of Plans.

Graduated from the Command and General Staff School Ft Leavenworth, KS 1992

Assigned as an instructor of logistics at the Command and General Staff School 1992-1996.

Retired from the United States Army 1996.

Civilian employment as a government contractor 1996-1998.

Started my own firm Prairie Computer Solutions in 1998 specializing in IT security,          

Emergency Operations Center automation, and Emergency Operations Planning.

Chapter Commander of Chapter 7 Disabled American Veterans, Leavenworth, Kansas 2002 to 2004.
