Frederick (Fred) W Oehme DVM, PhD, is Professor of Toxicology, Pathobiology, Medicine and Physiology and Director of the Comparative Toxicology Laboratories at Kansas State University

 Fred Oehme coordinates toxicology’s research efforts in studying the biochemical actions of toxicants, utilizing comparative medicine as a research and diagnostic tool, identifying the effects of environmental chemicals on public health,  identifying the effects of environmental chemicals on public health, and furthering new information development in clinical and diagnostic human and veterinary toxicology. He supervises the clinical toxicology program of diagnostic testing,  clinical consultation on patient and forensic toxicology,  patient care, and information responses for toxicology assistance  and coordinates the teaching of toxicology to professional and graduate students.  Fred has served on study sections of various NIH Institutes and on scientific advisory panels for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, the National Research Council and the World Health Organization International Programme on Chemical Safety.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, the American Academy of Veterinary and Comparative Toxicology, and the Academy of Toxicological Sciences, and is past-president of the Society of Toxicology, the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and the World Federation of Clinical Toxicology and Poison Control Centers.
