Dan is the Representative that started this whole thing.  He is a father of a gulf war veteran that is very sick.  When he tried to get some help for his son at the VA he was told it was in his sons head,  When he met a Jim Bunker he found out there was a lot of Kansas veterans like this. 

Wanting to learn just how many and how it was affecting the state, Dan worked on the bill that sat up the board.  Their findings did not just how bad things was, but it also made the federal government to look at the problems in a whole new light.

This lead to new federal laws that helped many Kansas veterans to be compensated for there health problems from the gulf war.
